RNHA Press Release Regarding State of the Union Speech and RNHA Member and US Senator Marco Rubio’s Response on behalf of the Republican Party
Sunday, February 17th, 2013Lakeland, FL. The Republican National Hispanic Assembly applauds RNHA Member and US Senator Marco Rubio’s response to President Barack Obama’s remarks at the State of the Union address. RNHA National Chairman Alci Maldonado released the following statement:
“President Obama is apparently not really serious about growing the economy and creating jobs. Tonight was nothing more than Mr. Obama’s pivot to distance himself from the most pressing news of the day – the dismal Obama economy. The president has set a troubling precedent of ignoring the economic realities facing his administration while exhibiting extreme overreach; he is attempting to strip individuals of freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution and saddling our states with excessive regulations that hinder job growth and cost taxpayer dollars.”
Chairman Maldonado added:
“Tonight our own RNHA member and US Senator Marco Rubio unequivocally outlined a strong and clear vision to bring economic growth and prosperity back to our nation that puts trust in the ingenuity and hard work of the people– not the government- to create jobs. The son of immigrants, Senator Rubio understands the value of hard work and the promise of the prosperity that this president’s policies have made more difficult for millions of Americans to achieve. As our Republican led states have shown, policies of lower taxes, smaller government and more personal freedoms ensure that everyone has the opportunities to achieve the American Dream. I am an immigrant to this great country as well as many of our own RNHA members. We must fight to preserve and enhance the American dream for all. God bless America.”
