    Chairman Mehlman Stresses Importance of Hispanic in the GOP

    RNHA's National Committee meeting was held this past weekend in Washington D.C. Leaders from California to Georgia to Connecticut met to discuss important official business, national policy and the 2006 election cycle. Chairman Ken Mehlman joined the group reinforcing his dedication to grow the Hispanic Republican movement.

    During the semi-annual meeting, National Committee members approved various resolutions including one supporting comprehensive immigration reform and denouncing politicians offering a narrower view on immigration.

     

    Hispanics support Judge Alito
    Judge Alito
    U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, M.D. (R-TN) yesterday filed a cloture petition to close the debate on Judge Samuel Alito’s nomination. A final vote on Judge Alito’s nomination will likely occur early next week. It is VERY IMPORTANT for you to get involved. Call your Senator today!

    While liberals continue to misrepresent Judge Alito's qualifications, Reggie Gonzalez, RNHA Texas Chairman, defended the President's choice of Alito as the next associate justice to the Supreme Court of the United States.

     

    New RNHA Chapter Shines in Florida
    Florida
    Collier County, Florida is the home for the RNHA's newest chapter. The new group, headed by Edgardo Tenreiro, aims to target the 12,000 Hispanic voters in Collier County, develop local Hispanic leaders , and help the community understand the conservative values of Hispanics.

     

    Rummel helps Hispanics Tap Into the Community

    Second National RNHA Co-Chairman, Marisa Rummell is highly active in her home state of Texas, dedicated to helping other Latinos in her community. A recent newspaper article highlighted her work reaching out to the Hispanic community and her involvement in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

     

    Secretary Gutierrez visits Colorado

    Earlier this month RNHA of Colorado members met with Congressman Bob Beauprez and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez during a town hall meeting. Colorado RNHA Chairman Perry Vazquez was one of the hosts.

    Colorado RNHA, which includes members of the Adams County Chapter, helped organize and promote Secretary Gutierrez's visit, resulting in an attendance of over 200 people from around the state.

    RNHA Co-Sponsors Conservative Political Action Conference

    RNHA is proud to be a co-sponor to the 33rd Annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), America’s premier conservative event. The conference will take place on February 9-11, 2006, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

    RNHA Chairman Dr. Pedro Celis will be participating in the conference as part of the immigration debate panels with other speakers such as Senator John Cornyn (TX), Representative Tom Tancredo (CO), columnist Victor Davis Hanson, and many more.

     

    Hispanic Unemployment Down
    Hispanics filled one third of jobs created in 2005, according to a recent article in Hispanic Business Magazine.

    While the Hispanic population in the U.S. grows, so do employment rates for Hispanics. "On an annual basis, employment of Hispanics has increased by 847,000 jobs, bringing the Hispanic unemployment rate down from 6.5 percent in December 2004 to the current 6.0 percent. Hispanic employment represented one third of the total 2.6 millions jobs created in 2005. " stated the article.
